Our client, a highly successful online retailer who has been at the heart of gardeners for over 75 years has a new opportunity for an experienced ‘eCommerce Merchandiser’ to be part of their amazing journey. This role is working remotely apart from 1 day per week in the Huntingdon office for meetings, marketing workshops and a coffee with your fellow comrades – we’re still human after all!

Reporting to the eCommerce Manager, this role joins their growing ecommerce trading team and plays a key role ensuring that all products are available on the website in time for key launches throughout the year. Considering how users navigate the website, the successful candidate will be responsible for merchandising products accordingly, positioning them in the correct categories and creating new categories where necessary. A mix of creative and analytical skills with a passion for all things horti is needed to excel in this role. The successful person will update campaign landing pages, homepage banners, implementing offers and promotions, publishing editorial content and create both category and product content.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the ecommerce manager to execute the ecommerce strategy
  • Researching and analysing market trends and competitors
  • Upload products and ranges in bulk and maintain website content, images, video, pricing and promotions
  • Continually optimise digital touch points to improve efficiency and ensure customers have a reason to return to the site
  • To continuously identify and implement content improvements in co-ordination with the marketing team
  • Analyse and improve merchandising on the site and produce relevant reports using Google Analytics
  • Assist in the development of campaigns, building and optimising landing pages
  • Maintain accurate product information, including timely updates to promotions, out of stock or discontinued items
  • Regularly update the site to ensure consistency with the weekly trading focus and provide customers with a reason to return to the site on a regular basis
  • To update the website with agreed trading actions and suggest opportunities on your area of responsibility
  • To ensure the website is presented in a customer focused way
  • Ensure navigation mega menu and collection page filters are up to date to reflect the ranges

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of content management systems (Magento, Shopify, Big Commerce)
  • Experience of Google Analytics & Adobe Photoshop
  • An understanding of bounce, exit, open, click through, conversion rates and other key Ecommerce metrics
  • Excellent writing skills & the ability to write product descriptions, category content and editorial content (e.g. campaign landing pages)
  • Methodical, organised, able to multi task and to prioritise workload effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication. I.T literate
  • Strong Excel capability and comfortable with Google sheets / slides, Trello and other shared content platforms
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Can work at pace
  • Confident communicator with the ability to research and present your ideas
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Enthusiasm to learn and develop

Experience in or a passionate about gardening & horticulture – desirable

  • Previous experience in an ecommerce merchandising team role
  • Retail B2C background
